Thermopylae

Artist Dimitri Hadzi presented his small bronze entitled “Thermopylae” to the Gropiuses as a gift. The sculpture is a small prototype/study for a large public work of the same name sited at Boston’s JFK Federal Building.

The Architects Collaborative designed the federal building. Hadzi was well known for his monumental public sculptures and collaborated with The Architects Collaborative (TAC) on several projects in addition to holding a teaching position at Harvard.
