Remember: Brooch

Emily Marshall Otis was the granddaughter of Harrison Gray Otis, who served as Boston’s third mayor and as a US senator. He died in October 1848 just days after Emily’s brother George Harrison succumbed to polio at age thirteen. Emily commemorated both losses with this brooch containing locks of their hair.
