Gropius House

Hall Round Table

Like the rest of the furniture in the room, this table, with its ornately carved base, is part of the original furnishings of the house, and is in the style of the Italian Renaissance. This baronial style was considered particularly appropriate for showing off the cultured taste of America’s wealthiest class. Soon after their marriage W.E.C. and Edith Eustis traveled to Italy. The Eustis family believes they may have purchased this furniture there.
