Gropius House

Dining Room Chandelier and Sconces

Made around 1880 in Holland or Germany, this chandelier and its pair of matching sconces are part of the original furnishings of the mansion. For the first twenty-five years, they were fueled by gas, the light controlled and diffused with straight glass chimneys and frosted glass globes. These lanterns are modern reproductions but all four globes on the chandelier are original.
