This early example of convertible furniture utilizes convertible bolsters as well as a Breuer-invented “runner base.” Gropius’ preferred this evening sitting area which “he occupied every evening, together with mountains of architecture magazines and books” such that “you could hardly see behind him.” This day bed was originally used in the Master’s House at the Dessau Bauhaus.
