Butterfly Stools
Sori Yanagi was a prolific Japanese product designer who was active for over 5 decades. The pieces seen here examples of one of Yanagi’s most notable designs. The butterfly stool merges modernist principles with poetic gesture. Ati Gropius stated, “The two Japanese stools were prize possessions and greatly loved by my parents for their elegant design, expressing not only modern design, but also a unique Japanese spirit.” Manufactured by Tendo, Tokyo, Japan.
