Birthday Card: Marianne Brandt, 1953

Marianne Brandt (1893-1983) trained as a painter before joining the Weimar Bauhaus in 1923. She quickly rose to the position of acting director of László Moholy-Nagy’s metal workshop in 1928. After leaving the Bauhaus for Berlin in 1929, Brandt worked for Walter Gropius in his Berlin studio.
